Disambiguation link notification for February 3

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Misplaced Pages appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited The Copernican Question: Prognostication, Skepticism, and Celestial Order, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Newton (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

academic journal pages

Thanks for your comment about multiple issues tags for academic journal pages. I was interested in this because someone put such a tag on such a page I had contributed. If you have no objection I'll paste your comment on his/her talk page. Ankababel (talk) 12:18, 9 February 2014 (UTC)

Further point -- some of those journal articles I found were also very brief -- should be labelled stubs. Ankababel (talk) 12:32, 9 February 2014 (UTC)

License tagging for File:Sixth-extinction-nonfiction-book-kobert.jpg

Thanks for uploading File:Sixth-extinction-nonfiction-book-kobert.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Misplaced Pages uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information.

To add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Misplaced Pages. For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Misplaced Pages:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 10:05, 16 February 2014 (UTC)

A pie for you!

Thanks for your great work on the superlens article!!! EdSaperia (talk) 11:31, 26 February 2014 (UTC)

Thanks

I'm glad you are expressing useful views regarding the Introduction to Quantum Mechanics page. It seems that every so often someone must start a fork or insist that the article be cut down to some kind of simplistic gee whiz content. I hope we can keep it at a level that will be used to more than the occasional curiosity seeker. Thanks for your help.P0M (talk) 06:06, 28 March 2014 (UTC)

Yeah, it seems this same conversation comes around every so often. Also, this article deserves my support. And you have done an excellent job with this article. --- Steve Quinn (talk) 06:11, 28 March 2014 (UTC)

Misplaced Pages talk:Notability (academic journals)

This statement is simply false. You are either incapable of copying plain English sentences, deliberately mis-stating what I wrote, or just repeating random claims to perpetuate a debate which has already been run to exhaustion in order to amuse yourself by wasting the time of other editors. I suspect the latter. Don't do that again. Deltahedron (talk) 20:56, 1 September 2014 (UTC)

  • Furthermore, in this edit you write
Furthermore, the below evidence appears to show relevant selectivity
...MRDB entries for recent items in a selected list of journals..."
You fail to complete the sentence you quote, which continues MRDB entries for recent items in a selected list of journals include the complete reference list from the original item. In other words, MR select some of the journals that they already cover in the MRDB for further coverage, namely, inclusion of the full reference list of the papers they review from those journals, something which they do not do for other journals that they cover. This fact is well known to users of MR. Whether you knew it already or not, I think you need to explain why you truncated the sentence and visibly changed its meaning.
Have you ever used MR? Do you understand what it is and how it works? If you do not, then you should refrain from repeatedly making tendentious and erroneous statements about it, and using those statements about something you do not understand to support your case. If you do know how it works, then you know what it means for MR to cover a journal, you know that it includes reference lists for some but not all of the journals it covers, and you know that you changed the meaning of the text fragment when you truncated it. In the latter case, you should be ashamed of yourself. Deltahedron (talk) 08:27, 2 September 2014 (UTC)
I appreciate the feedback - and I want you to know - if I made a mistake by truncating that sentence, then it wasn't intentional. At the same time, I don't see how completing that sentence changes the meaning. But you think that does change the meaning, and I consider your opinion to be valid input on this matter. Thanks. ---- Steve Quinn (talk) 03:20, 3 September 2014 (UTC)
In any case - I can see there is at least a possible discrepancy between what the source says and my intended meaning, so I struck out the blurb. --- Steve Quinn (talk) 04:05, 3 September 2014 (UTC)

SCOAP3

There's an article to be written here. I've started it, but it could be expanded to a much better article, and likely get a WP:DYK from it if we work fast enough. Not sure about how feasible it is to take to GA (or even FA status), but this one has more potential than a lot of things under the umbrella of WP:JOURNALS. Just dropping by to let you know I'm planning on working on this one (plus member journals) over the next few days. Headbomb {talk / contribs / physics / books} 02:26, 8 September 2014 (UTC)

Thanks for the invitation. I'll see what I can do. --- Steve Quinn (talk) 20:41, 8 September 2014 (UTC)
