Revision as of 20:31, 2 February 2003 by Daniel C. Boyer (talk | contribs) (distinguish melusine)(diff) ← Previous revision | Latest revision (diff) | Newer revision → (diff)A mermaid is a folkloric animal with a female human head and torso and a fish's tail (if it's male, it's called a merman) which inhabits the water. Some sailors claim to have seen mermaids; what they actually saw are probably manatees.
A mermaid-like creature having two tails is a melusine.
