As an international luxury brand, BONIA landed over 70 boutiques and 100 sales outlets all around the world: Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Myanmar, Indonesia, Japan, Taiwan, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia.

History

1977

The Group Executive Chairman was inspired by the artwork of Giambologna, a 16th century sculptor during his visit to Leather Trade Fair in Bologna, Italy; and thus, the name of BONIA has been registered after his inspiration.

1978

BONIA entered to the Malaysia market.

1980

BONIA took the position of fashion market leader in both Singapore and Malaysia with its aggressive series of advertisements and promotion exercises.

1981

BONIA opened its first boutique in Singapore.

1988

BONIA opened its first boutique in Malaysia.

1990

BONIA expanded its market to Brunei, Indonesia, Hong Kong and Taiwan.

1992

BONIA released the UOMO menswear, timepieces and eyewear.

1998

BONIA opened its first boutique in Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA).

2000

BONIA expanded its market to Vietnam and Japan.

2002

BONIA collaborated with Studio Pelletteria Alessandra of Italy.

2003

BONIA expanded its market to Thailand.

2004

The brand opened its first natural concept boutique, BONIA NATURAL on 8th September 2004.

2005

BONIA expanded its market to Saudi Arabia.

2007

BONIA expanded its market to China.

2009

BONIA landed its boutique in Damascus and Aleppo, Syria.

2010

The brand launched the eco-friendly handbags, Brianna collection on July 2010.

2011

BONIA launched its first fragrance, BONIA Pour HOMME and BONIA Pour FEMME on April 2011. On 1st June 2011, BONIA launched its Facebook Fan Page. Without stopping its expansion, BONIA opened its first boutique in Grand Indonesia Shopping Town, West Mall, and Jakarta on July 2011 and released its new luggage collection during BONIA Travel to Paris road show on the same month.

2012

The brand opened its first boutique in Crescent Mall, Ho Chi Minh City at the beginning of 2012 before launching its another first boutique in Hanoi, Vietnam on June 2012 and also Surabaya, Indonesia on July 2012. On November 2012, BONIA launched its Special Edition: The Sonia Bag Customisation Service in Pavilion, Kuala Lumpur as well as Terminal 2, Singapore.

2013

The brand registered in Instagram, @boniafashion on April 2013. On the next month, BONIA announced its first international brand ambassador, Sonia Sui, before launching its first Pop-up Store in Singapore. On December, BONIA opened another boutique in Trans Studio Mall, Bandung.

2014

BONIA started the year with its boutique opening in Centre Point, Medan. On May 2014, BONIA launched its Customisation Service of Italian Trunk and Special Edition: The Sonia Bag while opening another boutique in Skywalk Shopping Mall, Mandalay. BONIA continued opening its boutique in AEON Mall, Phnom Penh on 8th August 2014 and also in The Gate Mall, Kuwait on 29th September 2014. Before the year ends, BONIA announced its newly employed creative director, Pepe Torres from Spain.

2015

BONIA launched its first event in Indonesia at Kota Kasablanka- the launch of Special Edition: The Sonia Bag Customisation Service.

1974

The brand was founded in 1974 by S.S. Chiang, the Group's Executive Chairman, who started the business of designing, manufacturing, and wholesaling leather goods in Singapore.

1994

BONIA Group was listed on the Second Board of Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange (KLSE), Malaysia on 23rd August 1994.

2007

The group transferred to the Main Board of Bursa Malaysia on 23rd April 2007.

Present: Expansion and Listing

Bonia Group expanded its commercial activities to Indonesia, Hong Kong, Brunei, and Taiwan. The group also actively participated in International Leather Trade Fair in Germany, Italy, Middle East, Hong Kong, and Singapore.

Yearly Fiscal

For the fiscal year ending June 2011, Bonia had sales of 461.38 million Malaysian Ringgits.

For the fiscal year ending June 2012, Bonia had sales of 579.81 million Malaysian Ringgits (US$182.39 million), which is 25.7% higher than 2011.

For the fiscal year ending June 2014, Bonia reported sales of 691.61 million Malaysia Ringgits (US$ 194.11 million), which increased 9.4% compare to year 2013, when the company's sales were 632.32 million Malaysian Ringgits.
