GuiXT is a core engine for SAP UI customization bundled since SAP R/3 4.6B that resides with SAP GUI on the client side. It is used to change the look and feel of the user interface on a per screen basis to optimize processes or transactions, without ABAP, Java, or configuration changes. To aggregate multiple screens, tabs, and transactions into a simplified business process, see Synactive's Liquid UI products, which are built on the GuiXT technology to enable organizations to customize transaction input screens to the specific requirements of different roles, leaving the essential SAP back-end untouched. Liquid UI products also extend SAP to iOS, Android, and Windows Mobile devices enabling access to native SAP screens, or simplified customized screens with one development effort and code base for desktop, mobile or web access to SAP. GuiXT was created specifically for use with SAP and is integrated with SAP, but additional Liquid UI extensions to aggregate multiple screens into a particular end-to-end process for SAP GUI or mobile access operate independently of SAP solutions. Liquid UI users report greatly improved productivity and accuracy while, at the same time, reducing training and support costs without the need to upgrade to the latest SAP kernel release, or install Netweaver Gateway, OData, ITS, SAP Mobile Platform or any additional SAP software. Because the core solution is not browser-based, native screen responsiveness is provided for desktop and mobile usage. Synactive offers a development tool that provides a visual WYSIWGY editor, and a recording tool for a no coding approach for business users to get started with screen customization. Liquid UI Designer facilitates rapid layout design and code generation as it allows users to quickly create and manipulate the layout of the screen elements. When changes are saved, SAP GUI delivers the changes immediately to the desktop with no additional hardware or middleware required. The Liquid UI client for iOS and Android also delivers the same changes to mobile devices with no additional development required.

The recording tool (Liquid UI Workbench) also creates an excel spreadsheet or PDF document that can also be used to input or change SAP data, as the fields are automatically mapped by the tool.

Liquid UI is offered by Synactive, Inc., a US firm headquartered in Foster City, California. Synactive was founded in 1998 by Dr. Gerhard Rode and Thomas Ewe. As an SAP certified partner with technology already built into SAP, minimal changes are required to existing scripts as SAP backend updates are released.

Applications of Liquid UI include simplifying material creation to one click, combining notifications and work order into a single transaction, and providing remote access to plant workers to access SAP anywhere, with or without network connectivity. Liquid UI delivers a fast return on your ERP investment, with dramatic increase in productivity (in some cases, more than 80% as indicated by customers such as Hillyard), drastic cuts in SAP training time (e.g. Marathon Oil brought input notification training down to 30 minutes), and eliminating 95% of errors as reported by Canada Post. Synactive has helped hundreds of companies in Utilities, Oil and Gas, Retail, etc. improve compliance, data quality, accelerate process completion time by simplifying any SAP business application from Plant Maintenance, Material Management, to Sales and Distribution.
