Marathon Medal Table for 2008 Paralympics

The total number of medals for Great Britain does not tally with the gold/silver/bronze medals listed. Unable to establish where the mistake is to edit it myself.

Relay champion template links

Hi. A discussion is ongoing at {{Footer Olympic Champions 4x100 m Men}} about what links should be included for the winning relay team. Potentially, this may lead to consensus about how links should be used on other relay champion navigation boxes. Please contribute to the discussion here.

Ukraine at the Olympics

Similarly to the recent Kosovo at the Olympics issue, Ukraine's prior participation in the medal tables has been taken to an absurd level. Ethnic Ukrainians very well may have participated for all those countries during all this time, but there has to be a better way of presenting it. Jmj713 (talk) 14:49, 24 March 2015 (UTC)

Ukraine did not participate independently before 1994, so there should be no medalists from the earlier years. HandsomeFella (talk) 17:07, 24 March 2015 (UTC)
I don't think ethnic groups should be taken into account in another nation's medal table. For example a person who is ethnic Ukrainian who immigrated to/was born in the United States and won a medal for the US should not have that medal counted for Ukraine too. JoshMartini007 (talk) 21:09, 25 March 2015 (UTC)
Yep, it should simply be "did X person represent y country and win z medal"? The rest quickly falls into pointy WP:OR. Lugnuts 19:18, 7 April 2015 (UTC)

Competitor notability

Please pardon my ignorance; is it wiki policy that any competitor in the Olympics, whatever their performance and result, is by definition notable and worthy of an article? --Anthony Bradbury 20:05, 12 April 2015 (UTC)

Yes, this is correct--Ymblanter (talk) 20:09, 12 April 2015 (UTC)
Good to know. Would you be so kind to clarify this guideline in the following discussion: Misplaced Pages:Articles for deletion/Pantacles of Athens? Thanks.--Hyphantes (talk) 17:10, 21 April 2015 (UTC)

Recent changes to the graphics for Template: Medal

There is a template talk page discussion regarding the graphics used for medalists in infobox medals tables occurring at Template talk:Medal#‎Changing from gold/silver/bronze to 1/2/3. As this discussion is within the scope of WP:Olympics, you are invited to make your comments on the recent graphics changes there. Cheers. Dirtlawyer1 (talk) 15:35, 18 April 2015 (UTC)

Ancient Greek Olympiads calendar

To whom it may concern: Recently I have added a calendar to the Misplaced Pages project that displays the ancient Greek Olympiads, with the number of the Olympiad, the specific year and the name of the winner of the Stadion race. The calendar can be seen on pages such as 776 BC, 696 BC, 652 BC, 636 BC, 556 BC, 480 BC, 448 BC, 280 BC, 264 BC, 164 BC, 4 BC, 1BC, and all the intermediate. Thanks for watching.--Hyphantes (talk) 16:53, 21 April 2015 (UTC)

Support for Tom Simpson FAC

The article about the cyclist Tom Simpson, who won a bronze medal in the team pursuit at the 1956 Summer Olympics, is currently a featured article candidate and needs support to get promoted. I've worked real hard on it and want it to be seen by as many people as possible. If you want to show your support (or opposition), please leave a comment here. Thanks. U.S. Olympic track team navboxes

Good morning, Olympic sports fans. Given the relatively large number of links in U.S. Olympic track and field navboxes such as Template:Footer USA Track & Field 2012 Summer Olympics, might it not be better if the track team navboxes were split by gender? The U.S. track athlete navboxes have over twice as many links as the comparable navboxes for U.S. Olympic swimming teams (2012: 134 track vs. 59 swimming). I might also suggest that we remove the red links for the U.S. Olympic Trials from the navboxes for the older U.S. Olympic track teams, unless and until someone creates those articles. I initiated this discussion on the user talk page of TonyTheTiger, on of the principal creator and contributors to these templates, and he suggested I move the conversation here to initiate a wider discussion. NOTICE: Persondata has been officially deprecated

Persondata has been deprecated and the template and input data are subject to removal from all bio articles in the near future. For those editors who entered accurate data into the persondata templates of Olympic athletes and other bio subjects, you are advised to manually transfer that data to Wikidata before the impending mass deletion occurs in order to preserve accurate data. Here are three examples of Wikidata for notable swimmers: Ryan Lochte, Mary Wayte and Dara Torres. If you have any more questions about the persondata removal, Wikidata, etc., please ping me.
