Listing instances in music videos, movies, etc

A few instances being mentioned within the article are one thing, but the endless listing of every single instance is making the article look like a promotional advertisement, in conflict with WP:PROMO. It is un-necessary to clutter up a reference article with such instance citations. At worst - a linked, standalone list (WP:SAL) would be more appropriate and effective. Srobak (talk) 21:57, 18 January 2011 (UTC)

It is done. Appearances of the product now go in List of appearances of Beats by Dr. Dre. Keep the main article free of such advertising and promotion and restore its encyclopedic value. Srobak (talk) 02:27, 10 June 2011 (UTC)

Manufacturer?

Who manufactures the headphones? I’m wondering whether it’s a good manufacturer like Sennheiser, Dr. Dre’s own company, or what. If this information is available somewhere it should be included in the article. — TheHerbalGerbil, 02:27, 24 April 2011 (UTC)

It's been in the article since day 1, Monster. Please remember that the talk pages are not a discussion forum. Srobak (talk) 19:25, 25 April 2011 (UTC)

technology

What are they doing technologically to differentiate their product? Back ache (talk) 06:09, 12 August 2011 (UTC)

so there isn't any real technology behind the product? just mere marketing? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 189.202.3.170 (talk) 05:57, 22 February 2012 (UTC)

From HP's marketing, their Beats Audio equipped products have some technical (hardware) innovations, though it is unknown if these actually improve the audio. It is also unknown whether these innovations are part of the Beat Audio spec, or if they are HP's own addition to the their implementation of that spec. I haven't been able to find any actual 'spec' for Beats Audio, by the way, so I'm using this term rather presumptuously (it's possible that there isn't one and it's just marketing/business fluff). Notable hardware innovations from HP's Beats Audio page: "Features: - Redesigned headphone jack to reduce ground noise - Discrete amplifier for more power - Dedicated audio island to minimize fan noise interference." http://www.hp.com/united-states/campaigns/holiday-beats/all-products.html?jumpid=ex_r602_beatsbydre_may2012_beatsaudio

Launch Date

The launch date on here is listed as 2008, although a pair can be seen in the music video for "You Don't Know" By Eminem et al, which dates to 2006. Although I have no definite conformation that they are Beats, they look identical, down to the logo on the side. This might be worth researching, seeing as they were evidently in some level of production around 2 years before the Misplaced Pages article credits them as being. HarveyMGB (talk) 20:35, 31 August 2011 (UTC)

If we can cite it from a WP:RS, then let's change it. Just remember WP:VERIFIABILITY Srobak (talk) 21:01, 31 August 2011 (UTC)
The first ever Beats by Dr. Dre headphones were announced and released to the public in 2008. The pair shown in 2006 would have most likely been an early prototype if the information about the video it appears in is correct. Due to Eminem's very close affiliation with Dr. Dre, he most likely had early access to a pair if that was the case.
As I stated above - WP:VERIFIABILITY from WP:RS. WP is not the place for WP:SPECULATION. No sense in even bringing it up in discussion if there is not a source. Srobak (talk) 01:39, 14 December 2011 (UTC)

Dr. Dre not involved anymore?

I heard a rumour that Dr. Dre has quit his involvement with the company. Can anyone confirm via press release, etc? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 149.157.1.184 (talk) 10:39, 13 February 2012 (UTC)

Rumors of Apple acquisition

A possible acquisition of Beats by Apple Inc. is being widely reported http://dealbook.nytimes.com/2014/05/08/apple-said-to-be-in-talks-to-buy-beats-for-3-2-billion/. Misplaced Pages is neither a crystal ball nor a newspaper, but I've edited the mention of this acquisition to show it as a rumor rather than deleting it outright -- others have tried simply deleting it and it keeps getting re-added as fact by other editors. I hope that this compromise edit will tide people over until the rumor is confirmed or denied. -Dayv (talk) 16:34, 9 May 2014 (UTC)

And of course that didn't work. People are still trying to edit the speculation into fact. -Dayv (talk) 16:41, 9 May 2014 (UTC)
Well, that Dr. Dre video seems to confirm that it is happening. ViperSnake151  Talk  17:15, 9 May 2014 (UTC)

Acquired by Apple?

Just watching the news, Beats has apparently been acquired by Apple. — Preceding unsigned comment added by VariableDeclared (talkcontribs) 18:29, 9 May 2014 (UTC)

This may have been based on counterfeit headphones. Hence I am removing this section of the article. http://www.core77.com/posts/38467/Uh-Oh-Beats-Teardown-Apparently-Used-Beats-Knockoffs Matt J 10:39, 1 July 2015 (UTC)
