This is a list of special episodes of NXT, which are streamed live on the WWE Network and are two hours long as opposed to the taped one hour long episodes. They are held four times a year. A future event, NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn, is planned to be the first held outside of Full Sail University.
NXT TakeOver: Fatal 4-Way took place on September 11, 2014, with Kenta's debut being advertised for the event. Kenta changed his name to Hideo Itami during his debut, and fended off an attack by the Ascension. The commentators were Tom Phillips, Byron Saxton and Renee Young, while the pre-show panel consisted of Jason Albert, Alex Riley and Renee Young.
NXT TakeOver: R Evolution took place on December 11, 2014. WWE advertised for Kevin Owens' debut during the event. The commentators were Rich Brennan, Corey Graves and Alex Riley. The pre-show panel consisted of Jason Albert, Alex Riley, Renee Young, and additionally Corey Graves, who prior to joining the panel, announced his retirement from the ring due to concussions.
NXT TakeOver: Rival took place on February 11, 2015, with the commentators being Jason Albert, Rich Brennan and Corey Graves. The pre-show panel consisted of Jason Albert, Corey Graves, Byron Saxton and Renee Young.
NXT TakeOver: Unstoppable took place on May 20, 2015. It featured the unadvertised debut of Samoa Joe during the main event match. The commentators were Rich Brennan, Corey Graves and Byron Saxton. The pre-show panel consisted of Corey Graves, Byron Saxton and Renee Young. The theme song for the event was "Unstoppable" by Motionless In White.
The next scheduled NXT TakeOver event will take place on August 22, 2015, in the Barclays Center of Brooklyn, New York City, New York, a day before SummerSlam would be held in the same venue. This will be the first NXT TakeOver held outside of Full Sail University; WWE promoted it as "action featuring the next generation of WWE ... on the biggest stage yet". Tickets will go on sale on July 18.
