New Village is sometimes known as Chinese New Village (Chinese: 华人新村), is a special name created during the early pre-Independence days. The purpose of certain (or probably all) New Villages in Malaysia was, to segregate the villagers and have them live together in a new village far away from the early Malayan Communist Party. It is estimate about 1.2 million people living in 480 New Villages throughout Peninsular Malaysia. Today they basically look like slums or shanty towns, because of their outdated use.
