Jemaah Islamiyah, JI, or Islamic Group is an Islamic separatist movement dedicated to the establishment of an Islamic state in Indonesia. Links have been clearly established by various intelligence agencies which connect the activities of Jemaah Islamiyah with al-Qaeda.

Jemaah Islamiyah are suspected of having executed the October 11 2002 Bali car bombing in which 182 people, mainly holidaymakers, were killed.

They have also been held responsible for funding the bombings of the metro, in Manila, Philippines, which killed 27 people and injured 90 on December 30, 2000.

Alternate spellings: Jamaah Islamiyah
