Re: Twelve Gauge Valentine

Hello! I requested userfication of the Twelve Gauge Valentine, and I see you have found the usercopy; I have not moved it to mainspace. I thought it used to have more references in it, but I was mistaken. I took a look around and found several resources which might be helpful to restoring the page, though I am not certain I will do so myself; the band only put out one album, which didn't chart, and the page has already had two AfDs, which means the battle would be uphill (prejudice is against you). I found a band biography on Allmusic, album review, album review, album review, album review, and Alternative Press covering their breakup. That's decent, but it might not be enough to convince the red-tape machine of DRV that the article should be restored. Would you like me to move the page to your userspace, if you are going to do more work on it? Chubbles (talk) 02:27, 4 March 2015 (UTC)

Yes, that would be nice. Thank you! Metalworker14 (talk) 8:34, 4 March 2015 (UTC)

Okay, it's been moved to User:Metalworker14/Twelve Gauge Valentine. Enjoy. Chubbles (talk) 16:11, 4 March 2015 (UTC)

March 2015

Hi there, I'm Serge, and admin here on Misplaced Pages. I don't mean to be rude or anything, but do you think maybe it would be a good idea to slow down and learn a little bit more about Misplaced Pages before making so many articles? I've noticed a lot of your article are being nominated for deletion or redirected.

I think you basically just need to start writing article using more third party reliable sources in order to make sure that the topic meets the WP:GNG. I think some of the article you've created, like for instance, Ghost Thief (album), are notable, however, the way you're writing them, makes them appear like they're not. You really should try to have at least 4 to 5 sources present when creating an article. And you really should add a few paragraph's of content in - it's generally frowned upon to create album article's that have nothing but a track listing. Creating a reception section, outline reviews for an album, for instance, is a good way to prove that it's worthy of having its own article.

  • For a list of commonly used sources that are generally considered reliable, see WP:ALBUM/SOURCES.
  • For extra help on using references, see WP:REFB.
  • For ideas on how to typically write albums type articles, see WP:MOS-ALBUM.

I don't mean to offend or scare you away, I just don't want your work to be wasted on efforts that just keep getting eliminated. Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks.Sergecross73 msg me 13:49, 6 March 2015 (UTC)

No problem. As I said here, I don't agree with the nomination, I think he's off base, but if you are just a little more thorough with your articles, you'd be able to eliminate these misunderstandings altogether, you know? Let me know if you need help. Sergecross73 msg me 14:11, 6 March 2015 (UTC)

Re: Ghost Thief

That other editor was not supposed to do that. I'll monitor the page to make sure it won't happen again. Thanks. Sergecross73 msg me 23:16, 15 March 2015 (UTC)

File source and copyright licensing problem with File:DeathMachine.jpg

File Copyright problem
File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:DeathMachine.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status and its source. Misplaced Pages takes copyright very seriously.

If you did not create this work entirely yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. You will also need to state under what licensing terms it was released. Please refer to the image use policy to learn what files you can or cannot upload on Misplaced Pages. The page on copyright tags may help you to find the correct tag to use for your file.

Please add this information by editing the image description page. If the necessary information is not added within the next days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Please also check any other files you may have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Puffin 22:47, 19 March 2015 (UTC)

Trenches

They are notable, and these sources prove that fact Cross Rhythms, HM Magazine, Indie Vision Music, and Jesus Freak Hideout. Their album article, The Tide Will Swallow Us Whole, has already been created; even further establishing their notability per general notability guidelines because it takes precedence over band criteria. You do have a plagiarism issue with regards to the draft you submitted because the prose was lifted almost verbatim from MTV. Even with attribution, it is plagiarism and copyright infringement. Why don't you put stuff in your own words and vocabulary? I would advise you to delete the prose entirely and put their history in your own words, from the sources you have. Plus, the ones I provided. I know you can do the task, by looking at my recent examples, and fulfill the task for this group that you care(d) about. I am cheering you on to get the article created. The Cross Bearer (talk) 03:30, 15 June 2015 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of Serianna

Hello, Metalworker14. I wanted to let you know that I’m proposing an article that you started, Serianna, for deletion because I don't think it meets our criteria for inclusion. If you don't want the article deleted:

  1. edit the page
  2. remove the text that looks like this: {{proposed deletion/dated...}}
  3. save the page

Also, be sure to explain why you think the article should be kept in your edit summary or on the article's talk page. If you don't do so, it may be deleted later anyway.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Sulfurboy (talk) 23:28, 28 July 2015 (UTC)

Deletion discussion about Demise of Eros

Hello, Metalworker14,

I wanted to let you know that there's a discussion about whether Demise of Eros should be deleted. Your comments are welcome at Misplaced Pages:Articles for deletion/Demise of Eros .

If you're new to the process, articles for deletion is a group discussion (not a vote!) that usually lasts seven days. If you need it, there is a guide on how to contribute. Last but not least, you are highly encouraged to continue improving the article; just be sure not to remove the tag about the deletion nomination from the top.

Timelines

I'm not sure why you've decided to add timelines, but the one for Ethan Luck was not necessary. Most of the "live bands" were just touring gigs to pay the bills. Listing them isn't worthwhile. It's not more worthwhile than listing live performers for other bands. They're not members, it's just jobs. You're essentially making a pretty C.V. for mr. Luck. Some of the other timelines were good additions, but take a look at the Zao timeline now. It correctly lists bars (using "albums" rather than "black" and formats the data in easier to read columns when viewed in a monospaced font.

For the record, I'm not tailing your actions. You're editing articles on my watchlist. Have a great Sunday. I hope I'm not wrecking it. Walter Görlitz (talk) 22:31, 13 September 2015 (UTC)

Please take a look at this edit. The first thing you should notice is that if you're defining the colours in the Colors = section, you should use them. So for instance. id:UVocals value:claret legend:Unclean_vocals defines the colour for unclean vocals. When you use it, don't do bar:KW from:01/01/2006 till:01/01/2010 color:claret, but do bar:KW from:01/01/2006 till:01/01/2010 color:UVocals instead. Notice that the colour is the one you defined in the colors section. That way, someone can come along and change the colour in the definition section and it applies to all of the entries for that definition. Also, I defined id:Album value:black legend:Albums and id:EP value:gray(0.55) legend:EP rather than "lines" and made the change in the LineData section.

For the legend, make it four columns: Legend = orientation:vertical columns:4 position:bottom.

There are also issues about size, should be 800 pixels wide. That seems to work best for mobile devices, but I have no proof. And auto height is best. When that's used, using barincrements of 16 keeps the content compact. If you want more space, try 18 or 20. We will still disagree as to whether touring and session players should be in the timeline, but at least I won't have to undo more of your work than necessary =) There's even more information at Help:EasyTimeline syntax. My goal is not to frustrate you, but to improve on your strengths and discuss when we disagree. Walter Görlitz (talk) 05:41, 15 September 2015 (UTC)

OrphanReferenceFixer: Help on reversion

Hi there! I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. Recently, you reverted my fix to List of Christian metal artists.

If you did this because the references should be removed from the article, you have misunderstood the situation. Most likely, the article originally contained both <ref name="foo">...</ref> and one or more <ref name="foo"/> referring to it. Someone then removed the <ref name="foo">...</ref> but left the <ref name="foo"/>, which results in a big red error in the article. I replaced one of the remaining <ref name="foo"/> with a copy of the <ref name="foo">...</ref>; I did not re-insert the reference to where it was deleted, I just replaced one of the remaining instances. What you need to do to fix it is to make sure you remove all instances of the named reference so as to not leave any big red error.

If you reverted because I made an actual mistake, please be sure to also correct any reference errors in the page so I won't come back and make the same mistake again. Non-free rationale for File:Mindrage.jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Mindrage.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Misplaced Pages is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Misplaced Pages page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Disambiguation link notification for October 8

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Misplaced Pages appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Saving Grace (band), you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Arkangel (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Proposed deletion of Jason Gerken

The article Jason Gerken has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

On the Kansas City Star article qualifies for notability.

While all constructive contributions to Misplaced Pages are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Replaceable fair use File:Rocky Gray.jpg

Thanks for uploading File:Rocky Gray.jpg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Misplaced Pages. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
  2. On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. (ESkog) 18:21, 22 October 2015 (UTC)

Disambiguation link notification for October 29

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Misplaced Pages appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited 2003 Dove Award Nominees, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Satellite (album) (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

NRT content

Please make sure that any content you cite to NRT was written by NRT staff. In the Chatterbox article, you cited an NRT profile that was created by me (compare the user name there with my real name as given on my user page here). My first edit on Misplaced Pages was actually reverting the addition of content cited to NRT content written by me (see the history of Beyond the Glimpse of Dreams). So just please make sure that you are citing professional content and not user-generated material. You can check the profile of the NRT contributor to see if they are staff or site admins, and reviews will note if a reviewer is a staff member.--3family6 (Talk to me | See what I have done) 05:50, 2 November 2015 (UTC)

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Fountain of Tears is suitable for inclusion in Misplaced Pages according to Misplaced Pages's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Misplaced Pages:Articles for deletion/Fountain of Tears (2nd nomination) until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.

Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion notice from the top of the article. TheLongTone (talk) 15:31, 12 November 2015 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Fountain of Tears

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Fountain of Tears, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Misplaced Pages. This has been done under section G4 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion debate, such as at articles for deletion. Under the specified criteria, where a page has substantially identical content to that of a page deleted after debate, and any changes in the content do not address the reasons for which the material was previously deleted, it may be deleted at any time.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Misplaced Pages's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Proposed deletion of Into the Flood (band)

The article Into the Flood (band) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Notability not established.

ArbCom elections are now open!

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Misplaced Pages arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Speedy deletion nomination of The Empty Tomb

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on The Empty Tomb requesting that it be speedily deleted from Misplaced Pages. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a band or musician, but it does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

Speedy deletion nomination of File:FocusedCxH.jpg

A tag has been placed on File:FocusedCxH.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Misplaced Pages. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the file appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted content borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. Misplaced Pages takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

Non-free rationale for File:LivingSacrifice.jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:LivingSacrifice.jpg.

You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Misplaced Pages (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. --B-bot (talk) 03:38, 19 December 2015 (UTC)

Copyright problem icon Your addition to Living Sacrifice has been removed, as it appears to have added copyrighted material to Misplaced Pages without permission from the copyright holder. If you are the copyright holder, please read Misplaced Pages:Donating copyrighted materials for more information on uploading your material to Misplaced Pages. Hey Walter. I'm wondering if you are on Solid State Records mailing list, cause if so, after you log in, there is a tab that says "Artist Widget", and if you select Living Sacrifice as the artist, then it shows the copyright to the image. Misplaced Pages would not let me input this link because of one the value of the URL. --Metalworker14 (Yo) 15:00, 22 December 2015 (UTC)
Hi Metal. I'm wondering if you've looked at that image you uploaded because if you had, you'd see that it's plastered with copyright violation notices. You cannot just take an image that has been uploaded to the Internet and then in turn upload it to Misplaced Pages for use here. Check-out the links above related to permission and donating material. I am not the one who tagged those images, but once they're tagged, I have to follow the rules (and I've done it every time you've re-added the image). I have not bothered to warn you since I assumed you understand what you're doing. This last time I realized that I had to make it perfectly clear that there's a problem with the image since you clearly did not understand it. Somehow, you turned around and blamed me for the problem with the image that you originally uploaded. You can put in the link, without the protocol like this: www.solidstaterecords.com/artists/51/Living_Sacrifice/. You can even use templates like {{url}} to wrap around it on occasion. Again, I don't need to see any of this, you need to clear the image for use on Misplaced Pages on the page where you uploaded it: here Walter Görlitz (talk) 16:41, 22 December 2015 (UTC)

Press releases are not reliable for genres

Press releases are not reliable for genres, as often genres are created or mentioned in a release for promotional reasons. Information icon Please refrain from making unconstructive edits to Misplaced Pages, as you did at For Today. Your edits appear to be disruptive and have been or will be reverted or removed.

  • If you are engaged in an article content dispute with another editor then please discuss the matter with the editor at their talk page, or the article's talk page. Alternatively you can read Misplaced Pages's dispute resolution page, and ask for independent help at one of the relevant notice boards.
  • If you are engaged in any other form of dispute that is not covered on the dispute resolution page, please seek assistance at Misplaced Pages's Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents.

Please ensure you are familiar with Misplaced Pages's policies and guidelines, and please do not continue to make edits that appear disruptive, until the dispute is resolved through consensus. Continuing to edit disruptively could result in loss of editing privileges. Your last edit was irresponsible.

You have been warned about adding unreliable sources but you continue to add them. Genres need to be reliably sourced, preferably by multiple reliable sources. They should be discussed and supported in the article in a style section.

You have been pointed to {{Infobox musical artist}} on several occasions. You continue to add "associated acts" based on the shared involvement of one band member, which is against the guidelines. You format the infobox incorrectly, inserting breaks where there should not be.

You continue to add content without sources, which breaks WP:V.

You don't respond to reverts to discuss the edits, you just try to apply them again.

Please stop editing like this. Walter Görlitz (talk) 04:24, 25 January 2016 (UTC)

Misplaced Pages and copyright

Control copyright icon Hello Metalworker14, and welcome to Misplaced Pages. All or some of your addition(s) to Twelve Gauge Valentine has had to be removed, as it appears to have added copyrighted material without permission from the copyright holder. While we appreciate your contributing to Misplaced Pages, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from your sources to avoid copyright or plagiarism issues here.

It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to leave me a message on my talk page. I don't like the image otherwise I would add the fair use rationale for use on the article. You'll have to do it. Thank you. Walter Görlitz (talk) 15:23, 28 January 2016 (UTC)

It's hard to take you seriously as an editor

When I remove WP:REPEATLINKs and then you restore them, like this, I find it difficult to take you seriously as an editor. The fact that you constantly add unsourced material; treat Misplaced Pages like it's a zine or fan site instead of using professional, journalistic and encyclopedic tone, and several other issues make me cringe when I see your edits, because you're causing a lot of work. Just like this edit. Did you bother to read WP:REPEATLINK? If you don't understand it, feel free to ask. If you question its application in a list of band members, discuss that. When you don't even acknowledge that it was removed, that the removal was explained, and it points to a guideline on editing, it once again shows that Misplaced Pages is not the place you should be editing.
