John F. Whealon
I noticed that you placed a speedy tag on John F. Whealon. Since he was an archbishop of the Roman Catholic church, I think that he should automatically be regarded as notable. TruthbringerToronto (Talk | contribs) 23:25, 23 August 2006 (UTC)
- It appeared to be a memorial instead of an actual article. That is why I tagged it. Ryūlóng 23:32, 23 August 2006 (UTC)
Ukrainian logos
"Those logos do not fall under fair use doctrine or copyright violations, as they have been produced in the public domain. They can be used as if they were any other free use image on Misplaced Pages. If you continue these actions, you may be subject to longer blocks."
According to the Article 10 of the Law of Ukraine on Copyright and Related rights this work is in the public domain within Ukraine because it is one of the following:
Note that drafts of anything that falls under sections (d) and (e), unless officially approved are under copyright. Hence it is assumed that this image has been released into the public domain worldwide. However use of this image within Ukraine might be subject to usage restrictions regulated by other laws. PD-Ukraine Public domain in Ukraine false false |
- I'll repeat for you in case you do not understand: "this work is in the public domain within Ukraine and possibly in other jurisdictions". Since US law has that the copyright of every work published is owned by the publisher, and since the WP servers are in US, US law applies, and UA teams could ask to WP to remove the logos. So it is under fair use that the logos are used in WP, and fair use does not include "decoration" of articles. See Misplaced Pages talk:Logos.--Kwame Nkrumah 00:31, 24 August 2006 (UTC)
