Thanks
Thanks for the help with that, my first time filing a CheckUser. =) --Palffy 21:49, 23 August 2006 (UTC)

John F. Whealon
I noticed that you placed a speedy tag on John F. Whealon. Since he was an archbishop of the Roman Catholic church, I think that he should automatically be regarded as notable. TruthbringerToronto (Talk | contribs) 23:25, 23 August 2006 (UTC)
- It appeared to be a memorial instead of an actual article. That is why I tagged it. Ryūlóng 23:32, 23 August 2006 (UTC)
Ukrainian logos
"Those logos do not fall under fair use doctrine or copyright violations, as they have been produced in the public domain. They can be used as if they were any other free use image on Misplaced Pages. If you continue these actions, you may be subject to longer blocks."
{{PD-UA-exempt}}
- I'll repeat for you in case you do not understand: "this work is in the public domain within Ukraine and possibly in other jurisdictions". Since US law has that the copyright of every work published is owned by the publisher, and since the WP servers are in US, US law applies, and UA teams could ask to WP to remove the logos. So it is under fair use that the logos are used in WP, and fair use does not include "decoration" of articles. See Misplaced Pages talk:Logos.--Kwame Nkrumah 00:31, 24 August 2006 (UTC)
- Except copyright law in the Ukraine, where these images were made and everything, are the copyrights followed by Misplaced Pages. Ryūlóng 00:32, 24 August 2006 (UTC)
- Really? So Misplaced Pages servers, that are located in the US are extempted by abiding the US law on things that have been originated abroad? If it is so, why it is sayed that fair use is applicable only to files hosted in the US?--Kwame Nkrumah 00:36, 24 August 2006 (UTC)
- The servers that these images are on have no meaning in this. They are released under Ukranian copyright laws. Ryūlóng 00:37, 24 August 2006 (UTC)

- It is useless to speack to you, you already decided what was the right thing to do, and won't change your line even in front of evidence!--Kwame Nkrumah 00:42, 24 August 2006 (UTC)
- What evidence? Ryūlóng 00:43, 24 August 2006 (UTC)
- That in the US holds the US law, not the Ukrainian! Otherwise why should they need to write that "this work is in the public domain within Ukraine and possibly in other jurisdictions"? Because in the US the US law is valid!--Kwame Nkrumah 00:47, 24 August 2006 (UTC)
- What are you to say that the US is not one of those other jurisdictions? Ryūlóng 00:48, 24 August 2006 (UTC)
- Because the US copyright law says that you have to explicitly drop your copyright, for the work to be in public domain. Since the clubs did not drop anything, they are still entitled the copyrights in the US. Did you read the link I gave you?--Kwame Nkrumah 00:50, 24 August 2006 (UTC)

Ryulong, don't even waste your time arguing with this fellow, he has commited about ~16 3RR violations after being banned 3 times recently. --Palffy 00:46, 24 August 2006 (UTC)
- Would you be so kind to mind your own business? (and they were 2, not 3)--Kwame Nkrumah 00:47, 24 August 2006 (UTC)
- It's 5 on the Chornomorets Odessa article alone, and once Foxy is officially determined to be your sockpuppet, it will be 4 on all of those posts. --Palffy 00:51, 24 August 2006 (UTC)

Megan Hilty up for speedy deletion?
Hi Ryulong, I see you've tagged Megan Hilty for speedy deletion. I'd urge you to remove the tag - Hilty starred on Broadway as Glinda in Wicked the Musical from May 2005 to May 2006, which meets the name recognition/fan base requirements under WP:BIO, at least among followers of Broadway. I saw her myself when she performed the part alongside Idina Menzel, a Tony award winner, back in December of 2004. Fabricationary 00:58, 24 August 2006 (UTC)
