Alexander Prokhorenko (Russian: Алекса́ндр Алекса́ндрович Прохоре́нко; 21 June 1990 – 17 March 2016), also known as Russian 'Rambo' was a Spetsnaz of Russian Armed Forces during the Palmyra offensive (March 2016). He was identifying targets for Russian airstrikes and was surrounded by ISIS near Palmyra when he ordered an airstrike on himself. According to Russian media, President Vladimir Putin will present Alexander Prokhorenko's family with Russia's highest award which is Hero of the Russian Federation, the highest Russian honor.
