Carmela Soprano (née DeAngelis), played by Edie Falco, is a fictional character on the HBO TV series The Sopranos. She portrayed the wife of Mafia boss Anthony Soprano.
Edie Falco's performance as Carmela was universally lauded. She won Emmy Awards for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series in 1999, 2001 and 2003, and received six nominations for her role in the series. Falco has also won two Golden Globe Awards and three Screen Actors Guild Awards.

Carmela plays Anthony Soprano's wife and the mother of his Daughter Meadow and Son Anthony Junior. In the HBO series, Carmela is a homemaker for the Soprano household.. She works to keep her family together knowing of Tony's (Anthony) affairs with many of the women in his public life. Tony (Anthony) and Carmela separate when Carmela receives a telephone call from one of Tony's girl friends. Carmela, herself, has a short term affair with Anthony Junior's high school guidance counselor. Carmela and Tony eventually reunite.
