The Fleshlight is a brand of male masturbator. It is used by inserting the penis in its opening. Fleshlights are sold in various forms including artificial vaginas and artificial anal openings. Fleshlight is primarily marketed to heterosexual men.
Due to the success of Fleshlight's line of insertable masturbators, the brand name has been commonly used as a generic trademark for similar products by other companies, especially as the market for heterosexual male sex toys is relatively small compared to others.
Product history
The Fleshlight was designed by Steve Shubin who was granted a patent in 1998 for his invention, as a "device for discreet sperm collection", and is marketed by Interactive Life Forms. It is named for the flesh-like material used in its inner sleeve, as well as the plastic case that houses the sleeve, which is fashioned to look like an oversized flashlight. The inner sleeve is available with vulva, anus, or mouth orifices, and comes in colors of flesh from a variety of ethnicities, as well as see-through, and 48 different internal textures.
In 2011, the company that manufactures Fleshlight sent a complimentary package of its products to the members of the SEALs team that killed Osama bin Laden.
Similar products
The Fleshlight Girls brand consists of masturbation sleeves molded from the bodies of female pornstars. A device called the Fleshjack is a spinoff marketed to homosexual men. Fleshjacks are also produced in various forms including devices resembling anal and oral openings. The Fleshjack Boys brand consists of masturbation sleeves and dildos molded from the bodies of gay pornstars.
