It has come in a few "flavors" since it's original release. Recently, linksys made a complete, build-able GPLed source available making this a very customizable and flexible linux project, as it's availible from many places for around $60. The kernel is based on linux 2.4 The cpu is a 125 mhz (earlier versions) or 200 mhz (Later ones) MIPS-Derived CPU manufactured by Broadcom. It contains 2 integrated ethernet controllers. They contain 4-8 megs of flash for the os, and 16 - 32 megs of sram. The hardware came in a few versions: 1.0 - 20 front panel LEDs (link/act, full/coll, 10/100 leds for each ethernet port), 125 mhz cpu, 4 mb Flash, 16 mb sram, and a linksys Mini-PCI Card for wireless 1.1 - 8 front LEDs, exactly the same otherwise as the 1.0 except that the minipci card has been removed and integrated onto the motherboard (Exactly the same parts/chips as in the original, however) 2.0 - Same as above with a 200 mhz cpu, and even more chip integration (radio has less components) 2.2/wrt54gs/speedbooster - Highly integrated, 8 megs of flash, 32 megs of ram, same appearance/leds/cpu as the 1.1, 2.0 models
