WrestleMania 33 will be the thirty-third annual WrestleMania professional wrestling pay-per-view (PPV) event produced by WWE. It will take place on April 2, 2017, at Camping World Stadium in Orlando, Florida. It will be the second WrestleMania to be held in Camping World Stadium since WrestleMania XXIV in 2008 and the third to be held in the state of Florida since WrestleMania XXVIII in 2012 at SunLife Stadium in Miami, Florida.

Production

Background

WrestleMania is considered WWE's flagship event, having been described as the Super Bowl of sports entertainment.

Storylines

The professional wrestling matches at WrestleMania 33 will feature professional wrestlers performing as characters in scripted events pre-determined by the hosting promotion, WWE. Storylines between the characters played out on WWE's primary television programs, Raw and SmackDown.

On the July 27, 2009 episode of Raw, Shaquille O'Neal confronted Chris Jericho and Big Show, which led to O'Neal attacking Big Show. O'Neal was later a surprise entrant in the André the Giant Memorial Battle Royal at WrestleMania 32. He and Big Show went after each other, however the rest of the wrestlers eliminated both of them. At the 2016 ESPY Awards on the red carpet, Big Show and O'Neill had another brief confrontation. A match was proposed, which O'Neal accepted.
