Protection of your user talk page
There's no policy that allows you to fully protect this talk page. Please undo your protection. Thank you. --NeilN 12:57, 6 September 2016 (UTC)
- I am probably going to leave soon and would prefer that this talk page not get cluttered up. --Jakob (talk) aka Jakec 13:02, 6 September 2016 (UTC)
- Non-admin editors don't have that option available to them so admins cannot use protection for preferential treatment of their talk pages. --NeilN 13:13, 6 September 2016 (UTC)
- Seconding NeilN's concerns, "I ... would prefer that this talk page not get cluttered up" isn't a valid reason for semi protection, far less full protection. You were using admin status to avoid interaction. Acroterion (talk) 17:04, 6 September 2016 (UTC)
- And I apologize for that. I had just seen an editor claim straight-facedly that Wiki(p/m)edia policy effectively placed the site above the law in everything but copyright. I was spooked and deeply disturbed by that and overreacted in the heat of the moment. Anyway, I've since undone it (as you can see—a non-admin has since edited this page). --Jakob (talk) aka Jakec 18:48, 6 September 2016 (UTC)
Question
Why can't I mess around with your userspace, when you've announced you're leaving Misplaced Pages? ~EDDY ~ 16:58, 6 September 2016 (UTC)
- It's bad form, we generally allow people the courtesy of developing content in their userspace as they see fit. It was also bad form for Jakec to respond as he did, and I'm not on board with deleting the content once moved, but I believe the status quo ante is satisfactory. Acroterion (talk) 17:14, 6 September 2016 (UTC)
- The problem is he isn't going to continue to develop it. So it makes sense to move to mainspace. I could have copy-pasted it to mainspace, but that would have some attribution issues since I didnt write it. ~EDDY ~ 17:35, 6 September 2016 (UTC)
- The issue is that they were woefully incomplete, as anything more than a cursory glance would have shown. At least half had yet to show notability. My objection was not so much that you moved my drafts (which would have only been slightly rude) but that you moved a bunch of half-finished drafts. --Jakob (talk) aka Jakec 18:48, 6 September 2016 (UTC)
- @Acroterion: AFAIK I did not actually delete it, just moved it back to user space. --Jakob (talk) aka Jakec 18:49, 6 September 2016 (UTC)
