Kris Senanu was born in Ghana. He has studied ICT and now lives in Kenya. He is the Managing Director of the Enterprise division at Telkom Kenya. He also has a background in marketing. While in High School, he was a disc jockey who played in a band and acted in theatre.
Background and Education
Senanu completed his "A" levels at the age of 19 years oldand travelled to Nairobi in 1992, to visit his father and family who were residing there. While in Nairobi, he undertook his Undergraduate degree at the USIU-A then went back to Accra. He came back to Kenya and worked in Swift Global for 5 years in the sales department which was dealing with dial-up services. After this, he partnered with some friends to form AccessKenya Group in 2001 with the main objective to cater for corporate connectivity which was a sustainable business model. He started out as a Commercial Manager in 2001 then became its Chief Operating Officer in 2005 before taking up the role of Managing Director – Internet Division. Eventually Access Kenya transformed to IS Kenya and he took up the Deputy CEO position until 2016. His role focused on creating shareholder value by instilling a common vision and developing the company into a dominant player in the industry. He was very instrumental in growing the company’s revenue from USD 2,000 to USD 25 Million in 7 years, with a total asset value of USD 3 billion. This achievement earned Internet Solutions (IS) Kenya equity as the best corporate ISP in the East African region. He also led the strategic and performance management of the public listing of Access Kenya on the Nairobi Securities Exchange Limited – to become the first listed ICT Company in the region. With 20 years of experience in the ICT industry and a strong regional skillset, Telkom Kenya hired Mr. Senanu to head the enterprise division in August 2016. Currently, Kris holds an MBA from Warwick University, England and a bachelor's degree in International Business Administration with a focus in Marketing from (USIU-A). He is also a Chartered Marketer from the Chartered Institute of Marketing. In addition, he is a Board Member of the NSE. He also chairs the country’s Domain registry institution – Kenya Network Information Center(KeNIC), the Kenya Institute of Management (KIM) Business Committee and the Finance and Budget Committee for USIU-A. He is also a previous chair of the Telecommunications Service Providers of Kenya (TESPOK) Seven years ago, Mr. Senanu founded a capital venture company called Blackrock Capital to invest mainly in the entertainment industry, a niche he saw with the entertainment industry with the middle income group of people. As an entrepreneur, Mr. Senanu admits that he has had his "low moments" when investing in some businesses that do not pick as they should.
