Early life

Umji was born in Incheon, South Korea on August 19, 1998.

Education

Career

Umji debuted as a member of South Korean girl group GFriend in early 2015 with the song "Glass Bead". Unlike other members of GFriend, she made her debut without any previous career experience.

On October 5, 2016, she was temporarily diagnosed with a left femoral head sprain and temporarily suspended from her activities. According to her physician's opinion, she could recover soon after healing with rest.

On November 19, 2016, she returned officially through 2016 Melon Music Awards.
