Forever Changes
I've just noticed how poor and thin the article on the album is. Entire books, and countless articles, have been written about it - one of the all-time great albums. I'd be willing to start making some improvements to the article - what do you think about joining in an improvement drive? Ghmyrtle (talk) 10:21, 31 May 2016 (UTC)
- Ghmyrtle I would be happy to help in any way I can. I have a book or two I can dig up that should lead to some more details (just gotta find them!). I could work on some of the background history and perhaps find more in-depth reviews for its reception section. Let me know how you want to divide the work and I can adjust to that. Thank you for including me in the project.TheGracefulSlick (talk) 16:36, 31 May 2016 (UTC)
- The best way to start it, I think, would be simply for each of us to use whatever sources we have and gradually piece a better article together. We could use a sandbox, or simply work on the article as it stands now - I don't have a strong view on how best to do it. So long as we know we are both working to the same end and can discuss anything that arises, I don't think there should be a problem. I have a couple of books, and of course we can find good online sources. I'm not promising to start it straight away, but I'll see if I get something going in the next week or two. Ghmyrtle (talk) 17:05, 31 May 2016 (UTC)
- Ghmyrtle ok I got it. I need to finish an article to have space in my sandbox, so it will be a day or two before I start any editing. When that is complete, I'll focus on a little pre-history: mention the release of Da Capo, the state of the band, and Arthur Lee's relationship with his bandmates. If I recall correctly, the group was rapidly deteriorating at the time recording sessions began so it should be an interesting backdrop to the album itself. We can stay in touch and ultimately I think we will create a much more in-depth article.TheGracefulSlick (talk) 19:55, 31 May 2016 (UTC)
- No problem. You can have as many sandboxes as you like of course (just call them Sandbox1, Sandbox2, etc.)! Ghmyrtle (talk) 20:11, 31 May 2016 (UTC)
- Ghmyrtle I added some background information to the article. Let me know how you feel about it and we can move forward. It covers the state of the band before recording sessions commenced. I think from this point on it would be more appropriate to discuss on the article's talk page if that is okay with you.TheGracefulSlick (talk) 13:30, 2 June 2016 (UTC)
- All looks good so far. I have the books by Hultkrans, Barney Hoskyns, and Michael Stuart-Ware, which I can draw on - and probably some other more general ones. My problem at the moment is in finding the time to do all the things I need to do (not just on WP), so I suggest you carry on, and if I disagree with anything I'll raise it on the article talk page (or direct with you if necessary). Regards, Ghmyrtle (talk) 18:21, 2 June 2016 (UTC).

I haven't forgotten about this - it's just a question of finding the time. Can I suggest that we use a similar format to that at Marquee Moon (a featured article) - that is, Background, Recording, Music and lyrics (I suggest a song-by-song approach), Release and reception, Legacy and influence, Track listing, Personnel. I've now received the Einarson book, Forever Changes: Arthur Lee and the book of Love, which looks pretty good and reliable to me. By the way, there is an article about the creation of the album in the new August 2016 issue of Uncut, which is great to see, but a quick look suggests that it doesn't add anything new to the story. Ghmyrtle (talk) 11:22, 18 June 2016 (UTC)
- Ghmyrtle it's fine, I actually stopped adding to the article for now because I was waiting for the same book to be delivered. I can still contribute to the reception section in the meantime. The format you suggested sounds good, I'll go back to work on the article in a day or two.TheGracefulSlick (talk) 16:39, 18 June 2016 (UTC)

The Monks article is now GA
I have just listed the Monks article as GA. I want to commend you for the excellent work on the article! A bot will be inserting the little green pellet at the top corner of the article within the next few days. Garagepunk66 (talk) 01:48, 17 August 2016 (UTC)

Something not good
happened after you added yourself at User:Phaedriel/Soundtrack of Wikipedians. The formatting of everything after you was messed up. Including GaragePunk's out-of-alphabetical-order submission at the end. I placed their entry in the G's, (while still leaving his at the end), but the entry right after yours is still messed up. Some of this happened (opinion) because the code that you used to end your entry was copied from someone else, but you did not change their name to yours. I did some of that, got it better, but you might want to check it out and perhaps add your own image instead of the one that you appear to have copied when you copied the code you used. Check the history if you want to look at the past, (which you must like doing or you would not have the songs you have chosen) and if you don't really care, that's okay too. Einar aka Carptrash (talk) 21:25, 20 October 2016 (UTC)
- Carptrash sorry, my bad, I thought what I copied from the previous post was what was needed to properly format what I added. I did not notice that it messed everything up; it was not intentional. I will look through the other users' entries because I think this page is one of the coolest spots on Wiki. Thank you for fixing my mistake.TheGracefulSlick (talk) 21:42, 20 October 2016 (UTC)
- It never occurred to me that this was done on purpose. Had it been you would have prefaced it with, "Up against the wall, mother****r", or some other tender Slickism. I too am enjoying the page and after realizing that it seems as if the person who set it up has not been there, or anywhere on wikipedia for 5 years or so, have decided that we can pretty well do what ever we want there. Well, exceept mess with the formatting. Carptrash (talk) 21:53, 20 October 2016 (UTC)
- Didn't realize it had to be in alphabetical order, sorry. Garagepunk66 (talk) 01:07, 22 October 2016 (UTC)

Are you planning to make any use of this section of the fan site you found? It takes her story through to the 1970s, at least. Ghmyrtle (talk) 09:28, 28 October 2016 (UTC)

wiki project album discussion
I started a discussion regarding the format of album pages here – and I'm looking for opinions. If you have anything, please add :)--Jennica✿ / 09:07, 7 December 2016 (UTC)
- Jennica sorry the discussion discouraged you. In my experience with album articles, especially my lengthier ones, I have a "Background", "Recording", "Music", and "Release and reception" as well as the other typical headers you would expect to find. I am like you where I change "credits" to "personnel" because there are some instances in which a musician goes uncredited. I encourage you to make those alterations whenever you see them, but I doubt some of these veteran editors care very much about a specific guideline to follow. Personally, I think unity makes each article look more professional.TheGracefulSlick (talk) 03:23, 8 December 2016 (UTC)
- Exactly! It's more encyclopedic! and i think maybe a few years ago it was called "credits" because i still see it around a lot. It says "Personnel" in the style guide. Koavf, who wrote it, said the whole point of a MOS is to be pedantic, so I went ahead and wrote that. I guess if there's no "Commercial performance" section, "Reception" is fine. I get a little picky, heh :P --Jennica✿ / 13:59, 8 December 2016 (UTC)

I don't edit actual content on musician biographies. Two edit-warring IP editors were asking for my help on my talk page. --Marvellous Spider-Man 05:58, 16 December 2016 (UTC)
- Marvellous Spider Man that page needs to be largely rewritten, but I do not think either of those IPs can help much. I am not in to today's country singers but if you need me to take a look I can get to it soon. I cannot give you a lot of advice on the IPs because personally I do not think either of them should be editing.TheGracefulSlick (talk) 06:24, 16 December 2016 (UTC)
Ripcordz
I just wanted to let you know that I've bundled It's Never Too Late to Annoy Your Parents and Ripcordz Are Go in with your AFD nomination of Ain't No 'H' in Ripcordz, Dork-Face — since they're all by the same band and all subject to the same total lack of reliable sourcing, there wasn't much point in initiating a separate AFD discussion for them. Bearcat (talk) 22:55, 16 December 2016 (UTC)
Yes
Thanks for the invite to the garage rock thing you are putting together. I don't get to come in here as often as I might, but I'll participate however much I can. Thanks for thinking of me. Hope all is well.
- THX1136 great to hear from you and thank you for accepting the invite. I think it will be about a week before the page is up and running. There will be a section to include your username to "officially" include you in the group. I remembered you made some excellent points with the Ultimate Spinach article awhile back and we will need those types of voices to make this work efficiently. I will contact you again when everything is organized. Thanks again!TheGracefulSlick (talk) 01:47, 17 December 2016 (UTC)
I can also try to help out where I can, but I don't always have access to truly brilliant sourcing for the genre — I can certainly assist with sourcing Canadian ones when needed, but the general rule for what I can offer when it comes to deep specialized sourcing amounts to major Canadian newspapers after 1981, only the Toronto Star and The Globe and Mail before that, and the book Have Not Been the Same (which covers primarily 1985-1995). Beyond that, and for pretty much any American or British topic, I'm strictly at the mercy of the Google. Even for a no-brainer like Young Canadians, I actually had to rely far too heavily for my liking on their getting mentioned as backstory in coverage of Art Bergmann's 1990s-era solo career to bolster the sourcing, rather than actually being able to find coverage of them dating from the 1970s (which certainly did exist, I just don't have the resources to find it because my pre-1981 access doesn't include the Vancouver papers.) But I do what I can anyway :-) Bearcat (talk) 05:53, 17 December 2016 (UTC)
- Bearcat that is A-okay, we will need your experience. Besides, garage rock had a major revival in the 1980s, which was intertwined with punk bands. Recently, I discovered Vancouver had a major punk scene heavily influenced by garage rock so I still think you can contribute. Thank you!TheGracefulSlick (talk) 06:05, 17 December 2016 (UTC)
You can put me down as a participant; that will help get me back into the Misplaced Pages fold. I miss it! :-) Shocking Blue (talk) 08:34, 17 December 2016 (UTC)

Yes, please let me know
when you have the Garage rock task force set up or are looking for another opinion. My car just (I think) died between Gallop NM and Grants NM, and I am still on the road, so I am in a sort of limbo that makes it difficult for me to think. Bu I am interested and thanks for considering asking me in. Einar aka Carptrash (talk) 20:51, 17 December 2016 (UTC)
Garage rock task force
Thank you for your invite to the task force. Right now I am really focusing on making my way through missing notable songs, but I may be able to help in the future.
