Republic TV is an upcoming English-language news and current affairs television channel based in Mumbai, India. The channel is said to be launched by Arnab Goswami sometime in March or April. Republic TV will be a global media venture.

History

Arnab Ranjan Goswami, then Editor-in-Chief of a 24-hour English news channel Times Now, resigned from the channel on 1 November 2016. On 18 November 2016, Goswami for the last time hosted The Newshour debate. On 16 December 2016, Goswami announced that he is coming up with his new venture, a News Channel called Republic. However, on 13 January 2017, BJP leader Subramanian Swamy wrote to the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting that the name Republic was in violation of Emblems and Names act. As a result, the name of the venture was changed to Republic TV and the same was communicated to the Ministry by Arnab Goswami through a letter.

Team

On Feb 23, 2017, S Sundaram joined Republic as Group CFO . S.A Hariharan from Thanthi TV joined Republic on Feb 27, 2017 . Vikas Kanchandhani is the CEO of Republic.
