Sasha Velour (born Sasha Steinberg) is an American drag queen. Velour competed on the ninth season of the American reality competition television series RuPaul's Drag Race.
Personal life
Velour was born in Berkeley, California, then relocated to New Haven, Connecticut when his father began teaching Russian history at Yale University. Velour was raised in Urbana, Illinois, and resides in New York with his partner, John Jacob Lee. Velour has shaved his head ever since his mother, Jane Hedges, was diagnosed with cancer. He visits Russia regularly.
