It is part of doggolingo (also known as doggo-speak), a language used frequently across the Internet. Other related terms in this language include pupper, pupperino, and woofer. Doggos are described as "big ol' puppers", whereas puppers are "tiny doggos". The slang words were popularized by sites such as Reddit and Tumblr.
