The picture on your user page

Is the picture on your user and talk page really appropriate? I mean, I have been in this discussion about the correct term of talking about ROC/Taiwan for a while, being accused of being biased, and then, a few clicks away from the discussion, I see this.--Niohe 12:40, 21 September 2006 (UTC)

Wade Glides

Nobody minds if you put Wade Glides to Taiwan related article. But it is just too strange for mainland Chinese to accept that.

Several Edits

Jiang, I've come across a few of your recent edits where you removed a section header at the beginning of the article, leading to a massive introductory paragraph (or several paragraphs). The opening of a Misplaced Pages article, before the table of contents, is meant to be a brief summary, usually of abotu a line or two, and not an exhaustive explanation of the topic. Instead of deleting a section header that you feel is inappropriate, you can just rename it something you find more suitable. --Daniel11 19:16, 25 June 2006 (UTC)

Jiang, you're right, the ledes can (and even should) be longer. Either they've changed the consensus on introductory sections since I looked at it a couple of years ago, or in all that time I forgot some of the details. Sorry about that, and thanks for the up-to-date correction. --Daniel11 14:05, 26 June 2006 (UTC)

Removing text without explanation - Your warning to User: Blog Mav Rick

Deleting large chunks of text without explanation is considered vandalism. Please explain your edits or risk being blocked. Consider this a warning.--Jiang 03:13, 28 June 2006 (UTC)

What large chucks of text are you referring to? You can't just accuse me of something w/o backing up your claims...--Blog Mav Rick 03:16, 28 June 2006 (UTC)
Thanks for your reference, however I don't see the large chunks of text I supposedly deleted. I inserted a few things but did not remove, as you phrased it, large chunks of text.--Blog Mav Rick 03:19, 28 June 2006 (UTC)

neutrality

Excessive use of a certain entity in a general article, such as Public Ivy, will cause biasedness and reduce the neutrality of Misplaced Pages.

Warning =

Please do not add nonsense to Misplaced Pages. It is considered vandalism. Examples of your troublesome edits: labelling the Republic of China as a "potential superpower" and deleting content from American-born Chinese with the given reason "Not designed for forming romantic relationships; Chinese american women prefer caucasian men in order to assimilate into society." If you continue adding content that is blatant nonsense or deleting content under blatantly bogus claims, you will be blocked without further warning. Please consider making constructive edits and referencing any claims subject to dispute. --Jiang 02:57, 30 June 2006 (UTC)

求助 → 漢字

Dear Sir,

There is a problem, because the 漢字 should be displayed like in this template: Hanja - VERY WELL DONE!!!
Could you please change this: Template:Korean subway to make it right? It is easy to see the difference if you input the Chinese character now displaying: 平, although, it should be displayed: as it does here: Hanja, when you write: hanja= . The 漢字 is also displaying properly in: Template:Koreanname - VERY WELL DONE!!!.

Yours sincerely,

Unspecified source for Image:Shanghai day.jpg

Warning sign This file may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Shanghai day.jpg. I notice the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this file yourself, then there needs to be an argument why we have the right to use it on Misplaced Pages (see copyright tagging below). If you did not create the file yourself, then you need to specify where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the file also doesn't have a copyright tag, then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Misplaced Pages:Fair use, use a tag such as {{fairusein|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Misplaced Pages:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Misplaced Pages:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Note that any unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. 88.134.45.204 02:16, 8 July 2006 (UTC)

Image copyright problem with Image:Mulroney reagan.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Mulroney reagan.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Misplaced Pages because of copyright law (see Misplaced Pages's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Misplaced Pages are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Misplaced Pages:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}.

Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me, or ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Jkelly 22:11, 11 July 2006 (UTC)

Bonafide.hustla (talk · contribs)'s tendentious edits

I've noticed that Bonafide.hustla have continually made many tendentious and bogus edits to Misplaced Pages. Bonafide.hustla's contributions speak for themselves. He has been POV pushing and making tendentious edits to many articles since his initial arrival to Misplaced Pages. Bonafide.hustla is now resorting to making bogus vandalism reports which were promptly rejected, here and a bogus checkuser here. This is an abuse of the system and Bonafide.hustla should be blocked for disruption and wikilawyering. Thanks. (Note: I will be monitoring this page.) --RevolverOcelotX 06:40, 28 July 2006 (UTC)

Reversion of List of Chinese dialects name change

Thanks! That was clearly the right thing to do. I'm a little skittish about reverting structural changes, out of fear of making a bird's nest out of the articles. Grateful that you did it! --Waitak 07:33, 29 July 2006 (UTC)

Regarding Template:Chinese language

Why did you revert my edits? 100110100 08:18, 29 July 2006 (UTC)

What you did looks very bad on you; this is your warning; I put hard work into correcting a lot of the shit in the article. You do not have to rv an article; some of the changes were good. Yes, renameing the article might have been bad, but if you revert a article again, I'll submit a complaint.

I'm messaging you to let you know I'm removing the recent edits. At this point, I don't think the parties involved are agreeing to the changes. It is very possible that if left as is, someone will end up changing it and start an edit war. I'm asking everyone to respect the fact that the information has been removed, until the dispute can be settled. Davidpdx 07:12, 30 July 2006 (UTC)

Please look at the talk page as soon as you can. There is a potential compromise on the table that I'm willing to go with, if you agree with it. I'm hoping you will. Davidpdx 07:49, 30 July 2006 (UTC)

Image:Wang Mang.jpg

Hello Jiang,

two questions:

  1. Do you know who made that picture of Wang Mang and when?
  2. Why don’t you put the image on Commons?

Greetings, Carbidfischer 07:57, 8 August 2006 (UTC)

Ma Ying-jeou

Please understand you do not own this page, and you can not simply revert other people's change without a proper explanation. If you insist on playing a tug-o-war this way, I will expose you to public examination. One only needs to go to your personal page to know that you are the one with a problem in POV.

Ashinakhan 13:13, 11 August 2006 (UTC)

David Wu

Just to keep you informed, the recent edits on the David Wu page that I reverted had nothing to do with nationality or ethnic questions, but instead over an alledged incident while he was in college. Several people have tried to insert inflamatory statements about Wu being a rapist. While he did confess to an incident and apologized for it, he was never charged or convicted of anything. Given the fact that there was a different dispute recently, I thought I'd let everyone know what was going on. If you have an questions, don't hesitate to leave me a message. Davidpdx 03:28, 12 August 2006 (UTC)

Blanking talk page

Hi, I'm a bit mystified by your comment and edit here, which you permitted the blanking of a user page by its user. Considering I have not been on Misplaced Pages for long, I am perhaps wrong, but doesn't this policy state that the blanking of one's user page is considered Vandalism, especially if it includes warnings? I have reverted your edit and restored the user talk for now, but feel free to change it if I am proven wrong. Aranherunar 11:58, 12 August 2006 (UTC)

Thanks, but I still find the blanking a bit appropriate, since a RFA is currently open against the user . Removing completed discussions that has been settled is one thing, but removing the whole page that contains quite a lot of evidence for dispution, personal attacks and vandalism is another. In my opinion the user has changed his username and blanked the page in order to erase evidence for one part (he has not made any contributions since he blanked the page at the moment, so there should be no need to blank the page), nor is the page blanked "long after the warnings had been posted" - in fact, less than a month. Considering the user did not receive much messages except dispution (a whole large chunk of it is related to the RFA), and that he did not actually reply to about half of them, this, for example, I do not think the blanking should be permitted. I have archived the page instead to make things easier to keep track of. Hope you don't mind. Aranherunar 13:17, 12 August 2006 (UTC)

Hi, and welcome to the Countries WikiProject! As you may have guessed, we're a group of editors working to improve Misplaced Pages's coverage of counties.

There are a variety of interesting things to do within the project; you're free to participate however much—or little—you like:

  • Starting some new articles? See some model pages such as Cambodia!
  • Want to know how good our articles are? The assessment department is working on rating the quality of every country article in Misplaced Pages.

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask another fellow member, and we'll be happy to help you. Again, welcome! We look forward to seeing you around! Shy1520 10:26, 22 August 2006 (UTC)

hey jiang... are you taiwanese or chinese? i am just really curious because you seem to be really interested in the topic of the relationship between china and taiwan

first of all, i want to make it clear that i am taiwanese i think that taiwan is a independent country and it has always been it has its own government, its flag...etc. it is also a democratic country

i want to ask why do you like the name republic of china better than taiwan? if you are taiwanese.

hello again ill have to say that the picture on top is just stupid. and the person in it is definitely chinese, not taiwanese so he shouldn't be that interested in taiwanese politics. ok back to the picture. someone tried to assasinate our president, and you are telling us that he had ordered someone to do that? well if that's what you think you are pretty dumb.--68.98.154.196 22:48, 10 September 2006 (UTC)

Hello! When cropping an image (whether from here or from the Commons) for use as a main page thumbnail, please upload it under a different filename (by appending "cropped" to the end) and apply the {{m-cropped}} tag. Otherwise, the cropped version will replace the full-size version in the article.

Strange page move

I was editing the article on Chinese Imperial Maritime Customs and I found out that Robert Hart (China) redirects to an empty page, called Sir Robert Hart, 1st Baronet. (Apparently it is another one of those ill-considered page moves motivated by the urge to keep aristocratic titles in order.) Anyway, I have tried to restore the contents, by reverting to the old name, but I get messages telling me that the page has been deleted. The editor responsible for this has not yet responded to my inquiry, so I wonder if you can help?--Niohe 01:51, 6 October 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for restoring the contents! Let's keep things like they are now, I'll wait for the other editor to respond. It's kind of fun with these people wanting the titles to be 100 per cent "correct". I guess we still have to clear up the mess after Geisha/HighShines....--Niohe 04:03, 6 October 2006 (UTC)

A certain user forbids the use of Image:Taipei_City_seal.png on any templates dealing with Taipei City because the user argues that since the seal is used under fair use, it can only exist on the Taipei City article and no where else. (It would be interesting to see how this would affect the use of the seal of the State of California or the City of San Francisco.). Quite frankly, the Taipei City Flag is seldom used anymore to represent the city to the point that some people actually think that the seal represents the city, so I feel somewhat upset. Is there any solution to this problem? I did originally create a self-made power point version of the Taipei City Seal (see ) before it was replaced by another user with a seal directly from the Taipei City government. Would it be possible for me to reinstate the version that I originally created and have it licensed under GFDL?

BTW, will you be attending Wikimania? I would love to participate, but I'm not sure how to contact the organizers on how I can help since they seem to only communicate in Chinese.
