Where all the different cultures are combined (like a salad) but they do not mix or combine. Each culture keeps its own distinct qualities, just as a tomato does not take on traits of a carrot merely by being placed adjacent to it.

The Salad Bowl was an annual post-season American college football bowl game played in Phoenix, Arizona, from 1948 to 1952. All games were played on January 1.
