Ahmed Hassan (Template:Lang-bn) alias Imran is a veteran journalist and elected MP of Rajya Sabha from West Bengal, India. He had sworn into the parliament on 9 June 2014. In April 2017, he was selected as the Chairman for the Telephone Advisory Committees by the Govt. of India.
Ahmed Hassan Imran is a well known Bengali Journalist. Bangla daily Kalom has consolidated its foothold, mainly amongst the Muslim Community under his stewardship in West Bengal. Started 30 years ago as a monthly, turned into a weekly after some years and today a Daily, Kalom has emerged as one of the most insightful and popular Bengali dailies amongst the masses with a fairly large circulation.
Born in Jalpaiguri district of West Bengal, he obtained his early education in Bengal and later he went to Aligarh Muslim University. Since his student days he has remained active politically amongst his peers, and has earned a reputation of a being popular leader who works and raises his voice for the downtrodden and the weak. Due to his popularity amongst the masses, he was nominated as a Member of Parliament of Rajya Sabha by All India Trinamool Congress in 2014.
Today, apart from being an MP in Rajya Sabha, the Chairman of the Telephone Advisory Committee of the Government of India and his other duties, he still manages to devote time and energy to Kalom. He feels for the masses and raises their voice to reach the corridors of power. He has always been seen to address the concerns of the downtrodden, the weak and the marginalized.
