Taking a Chance on Love is a romantic jazz album of standards taken from MGM film musicals by American jazz singer Jane Monheit. Taking a Chance on Love was released on September 7, 2004. It was Monheit's fifth album, her debut album with major music label Sony, and also was her third Sony-labeled release after serving as guest singer in the 2001 & 2003 Sony-labeled albums Let's Get Lost: The Songs of Jimmy McHugh by Terence Blanchard and Hot Swing Trio: In Full Swing by Mark O'Connor, respectively. Taking a Chance on Love was Monheit's first collaboration with multi-Grammy Awards winning producers Peter Asher and Al Schmitt. During the first week of release, the album reached number one on Billboard's Traditional Jazz chart and the top 100 on Billboard's pop chart.
The song "Dancing in the Dark" received a Grammy Award nomination for Best Instrumental Arrangement Accompanying Vocals.
The bonus track "Over The Rainbow" was featured on Monheit's 2001 album Come Dream With Me as well as on the soundtrack for the blockbuster film Sky Captain And The World Of Tomorrow. The songs "I Should Care" and "I Wish I Were in Love Again" are bonus tracks of the album's October 2004 Asian edition version. "I Should Care" is also featured in the 2006 album Legends Of Jazz With Ramsey Lewis: Season One, Vol.2.
