The Office of Scientific Investigation and Research (often abbreviated to O.S.I.R.) is a private agency which conducts scientific investigation, research and experimentation in all fields of science; from astronomy to geology, from biology to psychology, from physics to zoology . In addition, the organization has a "Phenomenology Division" which focuses entirely on the investigation and research of anomalous phenomena (i.e. paranormal, supernatural, parapsychological and metaphysical phenomena)
The O.S.I.R. is one of a number of agencies that is linked with conspiracy theories relating to the Men in Black.
History
The organization was claimed to have been originally formed during the early to mid-1940's as a byproduct of a "black program". Coincidently the first sightings of the "Men in Black" are from this peroid.
Between 1990 and 2000 the organization became overt under the name of The Office of Scientific Investigation and Research or O.S.I.R. and opened a public affairs department that made contact with the media and general public .
In 2000, for unspecified reasons, the organization closed its public relations department and reverted back to a clandestine group. They are belived to operate under a variety of "front" or "cover" indentities and corporations in the same manner as most black program projects.
Members
The only known documented O.S.I.R. operatives who have taken an "overt status" as a result of the organization's Public Affairs Department are: Dr. David Allen, Christopher Chacon, Dr. Douglas Davies, Dr. Alan Henderson, John Pori and Dr. George Taylor.
Media
Between 1990 and 2000 the O.S.I.R. became overt and created a public affairs department. In this peroid the organization and several "overt" representatives were featured internationally on countless radio and televison news programs, including NBC, ABC, CBS, Fox, BBC News and National Geographic Explorer.
As a result of the organization's media exposure, the fictional TV series, Psi Factor was created which starred Dan Aykroyd. .
