Misplaced Pages and copyright
Hello Mooeena, and welcome to Misplaced Pages. All or some of your addition(s) to Allan G. Johnson has had to be removed, as it appears to have added copyrighted material without permission from the copyright holder. While we appreciate your contributing to Misplaced Pages, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from your sources to avoid copyright or plagiarism issues here.
- You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and cite the source using an inline citation. You can read about this at Misplaced Pages:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
- Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Misplaced Pages:Close paraphrasing. (There is a college-level introduction to paraphrase, with examples, hosted by the Online Writing Lab of Purdue.) Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
- Our primary policy on using copyrighted content is Misplaced Pages:Copyrights. You may also want to review Misplaced Pages:Copy-paste.
- If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. However, there are steps that must be taken to verify that license before you do. See Misplaced Pages:Donating copyrighted materials.
- In very rare cases (that is, for sources that are public domain or compatibly licensed), it may be possible to include greater portions of a source text. However, please seek help at the help desk before adding such content to the article. 99.9% of sources may not be added in this way, so it is necessary to seek confirmation first. If you do confirm that a source is public domain or compatibly licensed, you will still need to provide full attribution; see Misplaced Pages:Plagiarism for the steps you need to follow.
- Also note that Misplaced Pages articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Misplaced Pages project or article, you can, but please follow the steps in Misplaced Pages:Copying within Misplaced Pages.
It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. โ Diannaa (talk) 23:43, 17 April 2016 (UTC)
Speedy deletion nomination of Allan G. Johnson
If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Allan G. Johnson requesting that it be speedily deleted from Misplaced Pages. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Misplaced Pages's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. โ Diannaa (talk) 23:45, 17 April 2016 (UTC)
Proposed deletion of The Gender Knot: Unraveling our Patriarchal Legacy
The article The Gender Knot: Unraveling our Patriarchal Legacy has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- non notable book by non notable author
While all constructive contributions to Misplaced Pages are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. โ Diannaa (talk) 23:45, 17 April 2016 (UTC)
- I took care of this - the book article is safe. Tokyogirl79 (๏ฝกโโฟโ๏ฝก) 06:03, 18 April 2016 (UTC)
- I also saved Johnson's article. Tokyogirl79 (๏ฝกโโฟโ๏ฝก) 06:31, 18 April 2016 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free image File:First Location of St. Johns Country Day School.jpg
Thanks for uploading File:First Location of St. Johns Country Day School.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Misplaced Pages under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Misplaced Pages. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Misplaced Pages (see our policy for non-free media).
Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. --B-bot (talk) 17:39, 22 September 2016 (UTC)

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Misplaced Pages appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Jeanne Smith, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Columbia. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQย โข Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Graphic plots
By the way, for your recent edit on my edit of the plot of three film Dhuruvangal Pathinaaru, why do you think remaining text makes no sense? Have you even seen the film? I have. And I feel if nothing, then at least the beginning and ending lines should be removed for letting the viewer enjoy the film. Why be so mechanical? Misplaced Pages is not an epic to contain everything.
The film is a murder mystery, and has revealed every single thing about the film. Can't a synopsis be better? I strongly dislike this rule of Misplaced Pages to include and reveal everything about a film. Afterall, a film is meant to be seen and not be read. MyBleedingHeart (talk) 04:15, 15 April 2017 (UTC)
Hi, @MyBleedingHeart, my reasoning for why your edited summary didn't make sense was that it cut out some of the motivations for the characters and why/how certain events happen. Unfortunately, Misplaced Pages is an encyclopedia and not a review website, so we have to include the entire plot. There are many examples of mysteries revealing the ending in their wiki plot summary. See The Sixth Sense for what I mean. On a website like IMBD which is intended to give a taste of a movie a synopsis may be appropriate, but that is not the kind of website that Misplaced Pages is. Do you get what I'm saying? I'd be happy to answer any other questions you may have, but it's not actually in my power to change the rules of Misplaced Pages. --Mooeena (talk) 14:28, 15 April 2017 (UTC)

Join the next cycle of Wikimedia movement strategy discussions (underway until June 12)
The Wikimedia movement strategy core team and working groups have completed reviewing the more than 1800 thematic statements we received from the first discussion. They have identified 5 themes that were consistent across all the conversations - each with their own set of sub-themes. These are not the final themes, just an initial working draft of the core concepts.
You are invited to join the online and offline discussions taking place on these 5 themes. This round of discussions will take place between now and June 12th. You can discuss as many as you like; we ask you to participate in the ones that are most (or least) important to you.
Here are the five themes, each has a page on Meta-Wiki with more information about the theme and how to participate in that theme's discussion:
- Healthy, Inclusive Communities
- The Augmented Age
- A Truly Global Movement
- The Most Respected Source of Knowledge
- Engaging in the Knowledge Ecosystem
On the movement strategy portal on Meta-Wiki, you can find more information about each of these themes, their discussions, and how to participate.

Detransition Page Edits
You edited the detransition page citing a slur despite Misplaced Pages having the "n" word page in its inventory. Can you explain your conflict of interest as a transgender woman?JamieShupe (talk) 01:43, 14 March 2019 (UTC)
Hi JamieSchupe, welcome to Misplaced Pages. There is a difference on having an encyclopedic entry on a word and using a non-notable, offensive fluff piece as a source on an article. The linked piece does not contribute any new information or insight to the article; it's a biography of one person from a decade ago that uses transgender people as a prop. If you continue to revert changes on the page, you may be blocked. I believe your introduction to Misplaced Pages's COI policy comes from editing the article referring to yourself. The policy does not apply to editing topics about social groups which you may be a part of or associated with. I am not a transgender woman, thanks for assuming, but transgender people are perfectly allowed to edit articles related to transgender issues. Please direct further questions to Misplaced Pages:Teahouse. Mooeena โ ๐ โ โ๏ธ โ โ 02:14, 14 March 2019 (UTC)
You removed about a number of contributions, not just one edit. What is your reason for removing all of them under the pretense of being offended by one? Please restore the page and refrain from editing it again or I'll be reporting your actions to the moderators. You don't get to decide something doesn't belong on Misplaced Pages from a legitimate secondard news source because you consider it a "prop."JamieShupe (talk) 02:32, 14 March 2019 (UTC)

Conflict of Interest notice
Hello, Mooeena. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about in the page Detransition, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:
- avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, company, organization or competitors;
- propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (see the {{request edit}} template);
- disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see WP:DISCLOSE);
- avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
- do your best to comply with Misplaced Pages's content policies.
In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).
Also please note that editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. Jadepraerie (talk) 04:31, 14 March 2019 (UTC)
