Nuclear energy may refer to:

• Nuclear power, the use of sustained nuclear fission or fusion to generate heat and electricity
  • Of the two, fusion is not commercially viable at present. Cold fusion is not believed to be viable, and 'hot (thermonuclear) fusion' is expensive and requires massive heat to make up its energy costs.
