Template:RFMF KOMP is an acronym for Knock-Out Mouse Project, an NIH initiative to generate a comprehensive resource of laboratory mouse embryonic stem cells (ES cells), frozen embryos, and mice. KOMP's goal is to generate null mutations by "knocking out" individually each of the mouse genes. The generated cells and mice are distributed to the research community to study the functions and interactions of the knocked out genes.
