The aim of K-Meleon is to provide a light-weight browser running under Microsoft Windows, similar to Galeon or Epiphany on Linux and other Unix-like operating systems, and Camino on Mac OS X.
K-Meleon has been found to work best on hardware and operating systems that cannot handle larger web browsers such as Mozilla or Firefox.
K-Meleon is released under the GNU General Public License, and runs on the win32 platform. The latest release is 0.8.2, released December 23, 2003. The latest Beta release is K-Meleon 0.9 Beta, which has been in test phase since October 13, 2004 K-Meleon was originally written and developed by Christophe Thibault in 2000.
