Young Liberals

As a President of the Young Liberals, Erik Bornmann helped build that organization into a strong voice within the Liberal Party of Canada. The Young Liberals of Canada (BC) were known for being an influential and activist force within the Liberal Party of Canada. The organization played a leadership role in formulating Liberal Party Policy, including same-sex marriage, abolition of the Immigration Landing Tax, and greater electoral representation for British Columbia. Erik Bornmann's involvement the Young Liberals of Canada included a period of time in which Paul Martin was making inroads into British Columbia preparing for the retirement of Jean Chrétien.
Erik Bornmann would go on to serve as Policy Chair to the Liberal Party of Canada in BC. In that role he oversaw the reoganization of the party's grassroots policy process creating a policy committee and a broader plenary process by which party policy resolutions are adopted at conventions.
Political Consultant
Erik Bornmann also worked as a communications consultant to the Council of Forest Industries and Canada Payphone Corporation.
Youth Group Community Service
Erik Bornman has played a leadership role in variety of youth organizations including Camp Pheonix (a summer camp for disadvantaged children), the Royal Canadian Army Cadet Corps., and the Youth Matters! Society of BC.
BC Rail Trial
In 2003 the RCMP publicised an investigation targeting two BC government assistants. The investigation pertained to the privatization of BC Rail. Erik Bornmann along with former business partner Brian Kieran and a representative of a former client and bidder for BC Rail, OmniTRAX, are expected to testify for the crown against these former officials. The nature of their testimony is the subject of a court sealing order. In the ensuing information vacuum there has been rampant and often fanciful speculation as to the nature of each witness's role in this matter. The trial is presently scheduled for December 2006.
