Christopher Patrick Reid (born 10 January 1996) is a South African swimmer. He competed in the men's 100 metre backstroke event at the 2016 Summer Olympics where he finished 10th in the semifinals and did not advance to the finals.

“When Rio didn’t give me what I thought it would, I finished 10th, I wasn’t OK,” Christopher explains. “Up until that point, I was trying to find my place in this world and thought my place would be ‘Chris Reid the Olympian and World Champion!’ I was trying to fill a void in my life through swimming. “After the Olympics, when I allowed God to fill the void in my life, I found my identity in His son Jesus Christ instead. Being reconciled with my Savior (Ecclesiastes 3:17) has taught me that each day is a gift from God. There’s a lot of joy in that.”

He attended and competed for the University of Alabama and was SEC champion.

In the Autumn of 2019, he was member of the inaugural International Swimming League swimming for the New York Breakers, who competed in the Americas Division. In the second season in 2020 he also competed for the New York Breakers.

“We hear so often in life that we can’t make any errors in school or sport,” Christopher says. “As athletes, we can all relate to the enormous pressure we face, and put on ourselves, to perfect every training session and competition.”

Christopher Reid is married to the swimmer Katrina Konopka Reid - they got married in 2020.
