Hadrut is a town in the Khojavend District of Azerbaijan.

History

After the creation of the Nagorno-Karabakh Autonomous Oblast within Azerbaijan SSR, Hadrut was made the centre of the Hadrut District of the autonomous oblast of Azerbaijan. The Hadrut district existed until the abolition of the Autonomous Oblast on the 26th of November 1991. Following the First Nagorno-Karabakh War the city became part of the Hadrut Province of the self-proclaimed Republic of Nagorno Karabakh

During the 2020 Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, heavy fighting took place in Hadrut. Azerbaijani authorities stated that Hadrut had been captured on 9 October. This was confirmed later with videos released by Azerbaijani Ministry of Defence.
