*Advocate's act 1961* Black Law’s Dictionary defines ‘Advocate’ as the one who assists, defends, or pleads for another; one who renders legal advice and aid and pleads the cause of another before a court. An Advocate is a person authorized to appear in a litigation on behalf of a party and who possess a law degree, enrolled with the Bar Council in accordance to the prescriptions laid by the Advocates Act, 1961.
