Lia Cataldo (born 11 February 2001) is an English-Italian footballer who plays as a defender for Women's Championship club Newcastle United. She previously played for Millwall Lionesses, Leicester City, Bristol City and Crystal Palace.
Club career
Millwall Lionesses
Cataldo signed for Millwall Lionesses in 2018 and scored her first goal for the club against London Bees in a 2–1 defeat. Cataldo left the club after the 2018–19 season.
Leicester City
Cataldo signed for Leicester City in July 2019. In 2021 Leicester was promoted to the WSL and she won the FA Women's Championship trophy.
Bristol City
Cataldo signed for Bristol City in August 2021 wearing the number 3 shirt and made her debut for the club against Lewes. In May 2022 Cataldo signed a contract extension for Bristol City to keep her at the club until June 2023. In 2023 Bristol City was promoted and Cataldo won the FA Women's Championship. In May 2023 Bristol City announced she was released.
Crystal Palace
Cataldo signed for Crystal Palace in July 2023. She made her debut for the club against Lewes the following month.
Newcastle United
Cataldo signed for Newcastle United in January 2024. She made her debut the following month against Wolverhampton Wanderers.
International career
Cataldo represented England at U-17 level. She was called up for the 2018 UEFA Women's U-17 Championship. In 2018 Cataldo was selected by the U-18s for a three-team friendly tournament at St George's Park.
Personal life
Cataldo is in a relationship with her former Bristol City teammate and Welsh international Ffion Morgan.
