Text
1) Symptoms MUST be present for typhoid fever to exist.
2) Why put text in "(" ")"?
3) This is not needed "the presence and proliferation of"
4) "spread by eating or drinking" was perfectly fine

- Same as above. If you do not have symptoms you do not technically have typhoid fever. Doc James (talk · contribs · email) 19:02, 18 April 2019 (UTC)
Jamestown?
In Section 6.2, "Sixteenth and Seventeenth Centuries,", the article says that, "Some historians believe that the English colony of Jamestown, Virginia, died out from typhoid." I couldn't get the link to the source (#60, Byrne 2008) to work properly, but I'm wondering if whoever wrote that sentence meant to refer to Roanoke Colony, instead of Jamestown? Jamestown never "died out" entirely, though the majority of the population did die multiple times, and partially due to disease; I don't know if typhoid possibly was responsible or not. Roanoke was the "Lost Colony," the earlier English colony from which all the colonists disappeared for reasons yet uncertain, so it makes some sense that someone would have speculated that Roanoke "died off" from typhoid, though the Roanoke Colony page doesn't mention typhoid. (Nor does Jamestown's.) Alternatively, maybe the writer meant to suggest that some (perhaps many) Jamestown colonists may have died from typhoid, rather than that Jamestown "died out" completely. Colored "♦" doesn't appear to work on Chrome for Android
Colored "♦" doesn't appear to work on Chrome for Android. Discovered on my own Android as well as Browserstack emulator (Screenshot). Possibly because the diamond is classified as an emoji, so cannot be re-colored if a colored emoji font is available. --Voidvector (talk) 05:00, 15 February 2020 (UTC)
- Replaced it with black lozenge. --Voidvector (talk) 05:14, 15 February 2020 (UTC)
Overly lengthy lead section
The lead section of the page is too lengthy. If someone could condense it to a "nutshell" as described in WP:LEAD, it would be a big help. Just-a-can-of-beans (talk) 20:52, 15 January 2024 (UTC)
