Introduction to contentious topics

You have recently edited a page related to the Balkans or Eastern Europe, a topic designated as contentious. This is a brief introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.

A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as contentious topics. These are specially designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Misplaced Pages’s norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Misplaced Pages administrators have an expanded level of powers and discretion in order to reduce disruption to the project.

Within contentious topics, editors should edit carefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:

Editing while logged out

Hi Kilian2807, and thank you for creating a Misplaced Pages account. Now that you have an account, please keep in mind that "editing under both a named account and as an IP" in a way that is "not fully and openly disclosed to split your editing history means that other editors may not be able to detect patterns in your contributions", and the use of multiple profiles to "confuse or deceive" editors is prohibited by the policy against sockpuppetry. Specifically, edits such as Special:Diff/1267500132/1267535643 should be made when you are logged into your account and not when you are logged out.
