draft comments

Hi Mbenner1. I'm providing online support for your class at UMD and I have a few comments on your draft:

  • I poked around a bit and found a few sources on JSTOR covering the author. JSTOR 42633340 (pp. 506-508, 513), JSTOR 2758656 (p. 307), JSTOR 40155577 (p. 315, very brief). It's a bit hard to search as many sources mention her very briefly, but I think those three should be helpful to you.
  • Your section on "works" isn't formatting properly because the line begins with a leading space (see below). Just take the space out and it will work fine.

  • Take a look at Janise Yntema for an example on how an article like this might be formatted. For example, you won't need the "biography" section heading, as the first section of any wikipedia article doesn't have a heading (see this for more details).
  • You may "wikilink" filipina if you wish (it will send the reader to Filipino people.
  • We normally want an inline citation when we claim that a subject of an article has won an award, just as you have her birthdate and education cited now. Also (and this is up to you), consider trimming the awards list to only the most notable awards, in this case I would recommend only showing her first place Palanca Award.
  • I have never seen ‣ used to start a bulleted list on wikipedia before. Most editors will be more familiar with using an asterisk ("*") to start a bulleted list, which allows the parser to generate the bullet for you (rather than specifying it via a unicode character).
  • Also, while technically correct, starting a line with '' to italicize the whole line while not "closing" it (putting another set of apostrophes on the other side) may confuse some editors. I'd recommend that you either add in the apostrophes on both sides or delete the markup you have now and italicize the line by highlighting it and using the "italics" button in the editing window.

I hope this was helpful. I look forward to seeing further improvements to the page. If you have any questions you can ask me here or on my talk page. Thanks! Adam (Wiki Ed) (talk) 19:33, 3 November 2014 (UTC)

I made some of the minor edits (Works section heading, italics for works, pull lead info out of the first section, etc.).--CaroleHenson (talk) 18:41, 7 November 2014 (UTC)
