Hi Okip. I note that you did some good work with the Article Incubator when it was first set up, but then you stopped. I'm looking into the incubator as concerns have been raised about it so I'd be interested to learn why you stopped being involved, yet carried on with WP:RESCUE. A structural solution to good-faith deletion battles

Would you look over Misplaced Pages:Deletions and Openness and see what you think? I agree that civility is part of the problem, but I really think it will be easier to reverse this trend using software, rather than "excommunicating" the quality-control teams from the project. --HectorMoffet (talk) 08:02, 28 February 2012 (UTC)

As far as I know, he was not under any extant sanctions. The block is for participating in process (in particular, XfD) with multiple accounts which is not allowed since it compromises consensus. — Coren  16:13, 6 December 2012 (UTC)

Well, I agree an indef block looks more punitive than anything else (after all, how is an account block going to prevent socking?) but years of socking used to sway consensus are a very, very serious infraction. I hope Okip gets it and accepts a WP:OFFER. --Cyclopia 22:10, 6 December 2012 (UTC)
It wasn't "years of socking used to sway consensus". He had three sock accounts, one he just started last month, another he used for one day in the month before his latest one was created, and another that hasn't been used since 2009. If he had used any of them at the same time, then it would be a serious problem. Are we punishing him for something done over three years ago, or one of the more recent minor things? I don't know. I try not to reason in "friends vs foes" terms. I felt close to Okip as an editor, still socking is a very big no-no in my book. Also socking is a stupid thing to do, given that sooner or later, especially if you use it in controversial debates, you are going to be caught, and put yourself in deeper trouble. --Cyclopia 09:58, 7 December 2012 (UTC)

Okip - I personally am very sorry to see the outcome here, but after discussion at AN here, it seems pretty obvious that the community has decided you need to take a break for a while.
