The 2025 Surrey County Council election is due to take place on 1 May 2025 to elect members to Surrey County Council in Surrey, England.
It has been reported that this election could be postponed while local government reform is explored.
Assuming that the elections are not postponed, all 81 seats will be elected, this will be on the same day as other local elections. All councillors will be elected for four-year terms using first-past-the-post voting.
The 2025 election will be held under new division boundaries following a review by the Local Government Boundary Commission for England.
Background
At the 2021 election, the Conservatives won a majority of seats but had lost three seats to by-elections, defections and suspensions, leaving them with a working majority of 7.
The 2025 election will be the first since 2009 to be held under a Labour government in Westminster.
