Chaudhary Raghvendra Singh (1911–1997) was an Indian real estate developer known for founding DLF Limited (Delhi Land & Finance) in 1946. His vision laid the foundation for one of India's largest real estate companies, instrumental in transforming the urban landscape of Delhi and Gurgaon.

Early life

Chaudhary Raghvendra Singh was born in 1911 in Haryana, India, into an agricultural family. He was driven by a vision to develop modern residential spaces in post-independence India.

Founding of DLF

In 1946, Chaudhary Raghvendra Singh established DLF Limited with the aim of developing urban residential colonies in the capital city of Delhi. His early projects included the creation of neighborhoods like South Extension, Greater Kailash, and Hauz Khas in the 1950s and 1960s.

Challenges and expansion

In 1961, the government transferred urban development control to the Delhi Development Authority (DDA), which restricted private real estate development in Delhi. This prompted Singh to look for new opportunities outside the capital. DLF shifted its focus to Gurgaon (now Gurugram), where his vision led to the region's transformation into a modern urban hub.

Legacy

After his passing in 1997, his son Kushal Pal Singh expanded DLF into a real estate giant, responsible for landmarks like DLF Cyber City and DLF Golf and Country Club
