Lisa (Diz) Glithero is a professor at the University of Ottawa Faculty of Education. Glithero advocates for youth involvement in the natural world.

Early life and education

Glithero obtained a bachelor's degree from Dalhousie University in 1996. She then got a Bachelor of Education from Queen's University in 2001 and a Master of Education from the same institution in 2004. Finally, she received a PhD from the University of Ottawa in 2015.

Career

Glithero has spearheaded the development for the first ever Ocean Literacy Strategy and has received numerous awards for this.

She is the winner of the "Alex Trebek Medal for Geographic Literacy," awarded by The Royal Canadian Geographical Society. This medal is awarded to individuals who contribute significantly to geographic literacy.

Glithero is the national coordinator of the Canadian Ocean Literacy Coalition. Additionally, in 2018 she received both the Outstanding Educator of the Year award from the Canadian Network for Environmental Education & Communication and the Ocean Education Organization Award from Ocean Wise.
