Friedrich August Möbius (17 July 1869 - 31 January 1939) a German teacher and Erzgebirgisch dialect poet.
Life
Born in Annaberg, he was the son of the Annaberg businessman and after school became a teaching assistant as well as attending the Konservatorium für Musik in Dresden, where he trained as a voice teacher. In 1932 he became a reader in phonetics, elocution, voice therapy and speech therapy at the Hochschule für Lehrerbildung in Braunschweig and in March the same year became member 1.171.601 of the Nazi Party, though his teaching position was revoked in 1938 because he no longer corresponded to Nazi ideas on a new type of teacher.
He published several publications on German language education and phonetic therapy. In his free time he wrote several poems and songs in the West Erzgebirgisch dialect. His most famous and widespread song was the song on the Pöhlberg, written in 1905. He died in Braunschweig as the result of an operation.
