John David Preston (born December 29, 1950) is an American politician and author from Kentucky who was a member of the Kentucky Senate from 1994 to 1997.
Political career
Preston was elected to the senate in a March 1994 special election following the resignation of incumbent Democratic senator David LeMaster. In 1996 redistricting moved his native Johnson County to the 29th senate district, where he lost to incumbent Democratic senator Benny Ray Bailey. At other points in his career Preston has been a Commonwealth's Attorney, member of the Paintsville City Council, mayor of Paintsville, and a judge of the 24th Circuit Court.
