According to the Biblical Narrative, Obed (Hebrew: עוֹבֵד, ‘Ōḇēḏ, "worshipper") was a son of Boaz and Ruth. He is named as one of Jesus' ancestors in the genealogies recorded in the Gospel of Matthew and the Gospel of Luke.
