His father John Fitz Lewis was said to have been a succesful man living in London, another major hint of his birthplace. Philip is believed to have had eight siblings, four brothers and four sisters. He is the son-in-law of William Cromer, a Sheriff of the City of London from 1405-1406 in addition to the Lord Mayor of London in both 1413-1414 and 1423-1424.
He married a woman by the surname of Turney in 1483 in Essex of which they had one child, a daughter named Anne. She would go on to marry William Cromer's grandson who shared the same name. Connecting the two families. It is also unknown if he married another woman named Joan. Despite the confirmation of only one child, it is believed that Philip likely had more children.
