Samuel Joseph Stokes (September 8, 1889 - October 28, 1933) was an American ragtime composer.
Early life
Samuel Joseph Stokes was born in New Orleans, Louisiana.
Career
Stokes is known for composing four ragtime pieces for solo piano, one of which, the North Pole Rag was published by Louis Grunewald in 1909. The other three pieces - Dynamite Rag (1908), Salome Rag (1909), and Thunderbolt Rag (1910) - were self published.
Personal life
Stokes married Harriet Williams in New Orleans on August 3, 1914.
